Zuckerberg: AI breakthroughs don't need big teams, just a dozen people
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said that pushing AI forward doesn't need a huge research team. He believes a strong team of just a dozen or twenty people can make real breakthroughs in AI. He shared this while talking about Biohub, a non-profit medical research group he started with his wife.
Biohub aims to combine AI with biology to cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the 21st century. Zuckerberg noted that AI researchers have many job options, but Biohub's unique focus on cutting-edge biology and AI lets them do work that's hard to find elsewhere.
Zuckerberg is optimistic about AI's progress, saying it might help Biohub reach its goals even sooner. But he admitted that getting enough computing power is still a common challenge for labs everywhere. He called this AI moment both exciting and tiring, but stressed that Biohub's mission is a strong draw for researchers.
