Apple co-founder Wozniak gets laughs with AI joke at graduation
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak spoke at Grand Valley State University's graduation ceremony in the US, becoming one of the few speakers to get applause for talking about AI. When he said graduates have 'AI, which is Actual Intelligence,' the crowd laughed and clapped. Wozniak noted humans have always tried to build a brain-like system, and AI is one such attempt. In contrast, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and others were booed for similar topics. As AI changes hiring and skill demands, some companies have started layoffs related to AI, adding to graduates' job worries. Wozniak encouraged graduates to stay different and not follow the crowd, sharing his Apple experience as advice to think about making unique contributions.
