Google Street View Integrates Project Genie to Generate Interactive 3D Worlds from Real Scenes

At the 2026 Google I/O Developer Conference, Google announced integrating Street View with Project Genie's world-generation capabilities. Genie is Google's universal world model that creates diverse, interactive virtual environments—not just static images, but explorable scenes for AI agent training and virtual experiences.

After integration, Genie generates interactive 3D worlds from real Street View images. Users select a U.S. location on Google Maps, choose styles like "Stone Age", describe a character, and get an imaginary world. Currently an experimental prototype, it only supports U.S. locations and will expand later.
