Famous game designer Hideo Kojima recently told Japanese media Game*Spark that AI is a double-edged sword. It can speed up game development, but it may also take away the most valuable part of creative work: trial and error.
He thinks AI is like Photoshop and word processing tools — helpful for creators, and he does not object to that. But he worries that faster work may skip the best part of creating. The joy of painting is not the finished picture, but the process in between.
He used building blocks as an example, saying people truly enjoy putting them together by hand. Work he used to guide teams on is now moving to computers. That is fine if the goal is just a product, but the real thrill comes from trying, adjusting, and making mistakes.
He believes unchecked AI could one day replace humans in creative work, though the next 5 to 10 years should be fine. He joked that such decisions will be left to young people.
