Siemens Healthineers Partners with Alibaba DAMO Academy on AI Health Screening

At the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, Siemens Healthineers signed a strategic deal with Alibaba's DAMO Academy. They plan to combine the academy's "one scan, multiple screenings" AI tech with Siemens' imaging equipment to help catch cancer and heart disease early.

This AI reads plain CT scans to find tiny lesions that human eyes often miss. It has solved tough problems like digestive tumor screening and aortic dissection alerts, with results published in Science and Nature Medicine. The US FDA has granted it "Breakthrough Device" status.

The two sides will promote single CT scans that can spot deadly cancers like pancreatic and gastric cancer early, and run AI research with top hospitals using photon-counting CT. DAMO Academy's AI has already served over 50 million people in 10 countries and regions.
