Musk says Grok Bot costs too much to run without limits
Elon Musk says the age of AI abundance will come, but for now Grok Bot can't offer unlimited use. On X, he said the AI agent's running costs are "unsustainably high" compared to its revenue.
Grok Bot is an AI agent SpaceX launched in August. It uses virtual computers to handle tasks like shopping. Plans range from free to $200 a month, and every tier comes with weekly usage caps.
SpaceX's latest earnings show Grok Bot has 800,000 paid weekly users. Musk called it "the fastest growing product" he has ever seen, and the company plans to bundle it into an $8 monthly X plan with access to Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney, and Suno.
AI agents are the hottest new race in tech, but making money is still a big question. Meta's Muse has over 10 million users, yet Zuckerberg admits it burns huge computing power and isn't profitable yet.
