Tencent Hunyuan launches Hyra 2.0 to help AI build research tools

Tencent Hunyuan has launched Hyra 2.0, an AI research system. Instead of using AI to crack science problems directly, it lets general agents help build and upgrade scientific models, workflows, and software tools. Results can be reused in later research, moving AI science from "solving problems" to "making tools." Earlier, Hyra 1.0 drove an open-source model to solve a math problem that had sat open for over fifty years. Hyra 2.0 goes a step further: gains from tool upgrades can be reused by later tasks, creating compound interest for intelligence. The system has three layers: Overall aligns goals with human researchers, Mission focuses on one research question, and Worker reads code, runs tests, and analyzes failures on its own—and can even question Mission's calls. Reusable methods are saved as skills for future tasks.
