Nvidia worth more than Germany's entire economy, Jensen Huang says AI spending could hit $4 trillion a year
Nvidia is now worth $5.7 trillion, more than Germany's entire economy predicted for 2026. On May 20, Nvidia reported Q1 earnings of $81.6 billion in revenue, up 85% from last year. Its data center business brought in $75.2 billion. Net profit hit $58.3 billion. The company also added $80 billion to its stock buyback plan.
Jensen Huang said big cloud companies will spend $3 to $4 trillion a year on AI by 2030, way more than Wall Street's guess of $1.03 trillion by 2028. Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta are expected to spend $725 billion combined in 2026.
This AI boom is hitting regular people's wallets. A Virginia man's electric bill jumped from $100 to $281 in one month. Homes across 13 eastern US states now pay 15% more for power. One big data center uses as much electricity as 100,000 homes. By 2028, US data centers will use 12% of all power.
Huang sees a future where everyone has 100 AI assistants. Nvidia's next chip, Vera Rubin, will cut AI costs by 10 times. Top labs like Anthropic, Meta, and OpenAI are already on board. The $4 trillion spending is seen as building a highway to super-smart AI.
