OpenAI Launches GPT-6.1 Terra for Cheaper Computer Automation

OpenAI has released GPT-6.1 Terra, a new model that handles complex computer tasks at a much lower cost. It is strong at visual reasoning and desktop software operations, and can help businesses automate work like processing invoices and reading technical drawings.

On the Agents' Last Exam benchmark, Terra scored 15 percentage points higher than GPT-5.6 Terra at about one-third of the cost. Its token price is around one-tenth of GPT-6 Astra's, it runs over three times faster, and its error rate drops as low as 4.3%.

In the coding test Terminal-Bench 4.0, it completed 50.3% of tasks, about twice the previous model. The model is now open to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users, and can also be called through the API, priced 50% lower than its predecessor.
