Pangram launches AI image detector with 99.96% accuracy
Pangram Labs, an AI lab focused on detecting AI-generated content, has released an image detection model called Pangram Image 1.0. It uses heatmaps to locate AI-generated parts in pictures, helping people spot edited or fake images.
In tests, the team built a dataset of 1,200 photos using 12 leading AI image generators based on 100 real photos. Pangram Image 1.0 hit 99.96% accuracy. It also handles compression, scaling, and manual edits well, keeping 96.4% accuracy even at 256×256 resolution.
The lab also launched Pangram Image Flash 1.0, a video detection model. It scored 98.7% accuracy on the DF26 dataset, 29 percentage points ahead of the runner-up, offering a new tool to identify AI-generated content.
