Zuckerberg says Meta used employee data to train AI before layoffs
Meta has started laying off about 7,800 employees, nearly a month after announcing the cuts. Unlike most companies, Meta told workers early but didn't say who would go, causing stress.
A leaked internal meeting recording shows CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company used employee work data to train its AI models before the layoffs. He said watching "really smart people work" helps AI learn better than using outside workers. He believes Meta's own staff are smarter than contractors.
Zuckerberg added that having employees train AI on coding will make the models improve faster. Critics say this is unfair, calling it "using workers before firing them," raising concerns about privacy and ethics.
